Fulakunda people in Gambia

Settled throughout West Africa, this group of 2.5 million individuals is blessed to have the complete New Testament and Jesus film available in their main language, Pulaar. Pray for the New Testament to be widely distributed and for increasing literacy, so that it can be read. Pray also for workers from other parts of Africa to hear God’s call to reach these muslim men, women and children with God’s love. WEC has two projects making more christian materials available: pray for clear translations, good recordings, steady power supply, fast internet and wisdom for everyone involved.

Fulakunda Fulani in West Africa

The 2.5 million Fulakunda Fulani are spread across five different countries. In the Gambia, the Republic of Guinea and in Mauritania, they are particularly in need of workers. They do have access to the New Testament, so please pray that God will speak through his word, and pray for those working among the Fulakunda to explain Scripture faithfully, in the power of the Holy Spirit.

Wolof unreached people

The Wolof live in 12 different countries and number 6.2 million. In most countries, the Wolof people have the New Testament in their language. But in the Gambia, there is a special need for workers, and the Wolof only have access to portions of the Bible. Please pray for workers, who must be sensitive to the muslim culture, and will reach more of the Wolof people with Christ’s love.

Mandinka in the Gambia

Please pray for more workers to reach the Muslim Mandinka people. Though they can access the scriptures, not many of them can read. With that in mind, let’s pray that many Christians will befriend and witness to Mandinka people. Pray, too, that the Mandinkas who turn to Christ will be welcomed, supported and made to feel part of the Christian community.

Fulakunda people in the Gambia

The Fulani, or Fula, are a large people group, found throughout central and western Africa. They are mostly nomadic herdsmen. The Fulani of the Gambia belong to the Fulakunda sub-group. They are almost all Muslims, with only a small number of Christians and few Christian resources available to them. Pray that Islam will lose its hold on the people, and that those who know Jesus will be a powerful witness. Pray, too, for the mission agencies which focus on the Fulani peoples: that the Holy Spirit will give us wisdom and favour in our work.
