The SuperBible comic is a colourful portrayal of Bible stories in a comic book format. It brings gospel truth alive in an accessible way and is already translated into a variety of languages. The first 5000 copies of the Te Reo Maori language version of SuperBible are currently being distributed in New Zealand. Pray that this creative telling of God’s story will attract many readers and start them on a journey to Christ.
TSCF New Zealand have broken ground on the site of ‘The Well’ in Lincoln. This project is to establish a residential, missional community, housing eight Lincoln students, that seeks to encourage encounters with Jesus and to see students cultivate an undivided life, wholeheartedly living for Jesus in every area of life. Pray that once built, it would be a true witness of Christ through hospitality, evangelism and building community, and that it might ultimately be life-changing for generations to come.
“And we know that all things work together for good for those who love God and are called according to His purpose.” The proof, a movement for the Al Massira training to go online, reaching larger and more diversified groups. Development of a new public website and start of a project to develop a new Al Massira App. Which can be used by those in difficult to reach places. Please pray that Al Massira teams around the world will continue to be nimble and creative to find ways to continue to share the good news of Jesus the Messiah with people in Islam. Also for funding to enable technical innovations to be undertaken. Please Pray for our developing work in Australia and New Zealand. Pray for spiritual growth among indigenous leaders and for the gospel to be received by all peoples. Pray for the increasing Syrian and Iraqi refugee communities, that they would receive their citizenship, not in any nation of this world but citizenship in Heaven itself. May their identity be deeply rooted in the living God. Pray he raises many labourers for his harvest field that will partake in an upcoming, online Al Massira training.
We pray for those injured following the White Island volcano eruption in December. Ask that the Lord will bring quick recovery of body and mind. May God comfort those who have lost loved ones. Pray also for the emergency services, as retrieval of the deceased from the disaster site and repatriation continues.
Aotearoa / New Zealand is often referred to as the seabird capital of the world. However, seabirds face an uncertain future due to the introduction of non-native predators by humans. A community biodiversity restoration project is protecting the nesting sites of Grey-faced Petrel (also known as Oi) and seeking to restore Mt Karioi as a seabird mountain. Pray for the successful fledging of petrel chicks and the ongoing work of the local community in enhancing the diversity of native wildlife in this area.
Student movements in the South Pacific region face a wide range of challenges: from rampant secularism in Australia and New Zealand to economic and political instability in Fiji; from the geographic isolation of Tonga to the challenge of indigenous practices in parts of Papua New Guinea. Particularly encouraging is the growth in partnerships of Australia and New Zealand with other IFES movements in the Pacific region as well as with Africa. Please pray for small island movements where there are very few or no staff workers and for growth in the ministry to international students, especially in Australia and New Zealand.
