From 2017, a thriving student ministry existed in Vanua Levu, northern Fiji. When COVID broke out in 2021, ministry was not able to continue. All three groups in three universities closed down. There is no staff worker to help keep things going. PSFC, the IFES movement in Fiji, are determined to restart. They are planning to revisit and reengage the northern island by recruiting a staff worker to replant the ministry. Please pray for Taniela Queleni, PSFC General Secretary, visiting and meeting potential student leaders and discussing with the projected new staff worker the possibilities. Plans to restart campus fellowship are in place.
Student movements in the South Pacific region face a wide range of challenges: from rampant secularism in Australia and New Zealand to economic and political instability in Fiji; from the geographic isolation of Tonga to the challenge of indigenous practices in parts of Papua New Guinea. Particularly encouraging is the growth in partnerships of Australia and New Zealand with other IFES movements in the Pacific region as well as with Africa. Please pray for small island movements where there are very few or no staff workers and for growth in the ministry to international students, especially in Australia and New Zealand.
