The Shawiya Berber people are found in six countries across the world: Algeria, Morocco and some countries in Europe. They mainly live in Algeria, their primary religion is Islam, and ther language is called Tachawit. Pray for Christians in Europe to seek to reach the Shawiya, as it is difficult to do so in other countries. Pray that the Holy Spirit will work in many hearts to reveal who Christ is, and that wherever they are, these people will hear the gospel of Jesus Christ and respond in faith.
An outreach initiative took place throughout Belgium during March called Project 3-16. ECM worker Holly got a choir together in her church that sang gospel songs in the city centre. Pray that throughout the country people will respond positively to the message of John 3:16. An ECM holiday club last Summer (called Overleieclub after the name of the neighbourhood) was a success, so a mini-Overleieclub was organised this year for the Easter holidays. Please pray that children from the neighbourhood who were touched by the Christian atmosphere will accept Jesus as their saviour.
The Roman Catholic Church has deep roots in Belgium - consequently many Belgians are not unfamiliar with God. Sadly enough, many miss the heart of the message of the gospel, which can be noticed by the exodus taking place from many established churches. Scandals within the Roman Catholic Church caused many Belgians to resign from their membership to the church. Belgium needs the gospel. Pray for the building of loving communities, which transcend the message of the gospel to the many people who live without God. A beautiful example of such a community is the Arabic Church in Brussels.
